Dandelion
PLANT INFO:
Dandelion (Taraxacum)
-
Has a rosette base producing several flowering stems and multiple leaves.
-
Can grow as high as 25-30 cm.
-
Has deeply-notched, basal leaves that are hairless. Leaves are 5 to 25 cm or longer and they form a rosette above the central taproot.
-
The flower heads are yellow to orange colored, and are open in the daytime but closed at night.
-
The heads are borne singly on a hollow stem that is usually leafless and rises 1–10 cm or more above the leaves.
-
Due to its highly mobile, wind and wish dispersed seeds, invasions can spread rapidly.
-
Dandelions have deep taproots that sprout new leaves when the entire root isn’t removed.
