Joe-Pye Weed (Eupatorium fistulosum) 

  • Long stalked plant with narrow lance-shaped leaves.

  • Large dome-shaped flower heads composed of several branches containing clusters of pink to purple flowers bloom in late summer.

  • Attracts many pollinators including a variety of birds and butterflies as well as honey bees.

  • The seeds are eaten by swamp sparrows.

  • Grows in meadows, marshes and stream banks.

  • New York native.
