Virginia Creeper (Parthenocissus quinquefolia)

  • Woody vine. Leaves composed of five pointed leaflets, turn red and purple in fall.

  • Inconspicuous small clusters of greenish flowers in spring. 3-40’ long. 

  • Dark blue-black berries in fall.

  • Berries provide winter food for a variety of bird species.

  • Larval host to sphinx months.

  • Grows in forests, thickets and rocky outcroppings.

  • Eastern US Native.
